Back to Disney

It's an odd numbered year, so it seemed time to return to Disney. I feel so very blessed to be able to do this with the kids as often as we do. And, this year, like the first time we came, the Milsteads are with us as well.

We got in very late last night, so we got started at our first park, Animal Kingdom, about midday today. Maury and I went to get FastPasses for Kilimanjaro Safari while the rest went to see It's Tough to be a Bug. After that, we caught a quick lunch at Pizzafari and headed on to the safari. This was the closest we had ever seen the giraffes. In fact, the one below stood in the middle of the road after our truck went by and kept a few other trucks stopped for awhile.

After the Safari, I picked up FastPasses for Expedition: Everest. I still have them in my purse because after riding Dinosaur, the rain came down hard and was still pouring down three hours later when we left. No parade today and no Everest. Sad.

Back to Dinosaur. This ride was one we had never gone on and I know why: it always sounded too scary for either of the kids to go on. Maury still refused to go on and once the ride started Lizzie had her eyes closed. You can pretty much see from the picture below how Lizzie rode the ride (that's me and her on the back row). It was dark, bumpy and had lots of scary looking dinosaurs. I think it's best we didn't force Maury to ride after all.

Like I said, when we got out of Dinosaur, it was pouring down rain. We waited for about half an hour and then walked over to see the Finding Nemo show. This one we saw either two or four years ago and it is a lot of fun. I actually would have thought they would have turned this into a full scale Broadway production by now. Look at the great costuming!

We called it a day after that since it was still raining (after a stop at the gift shop, of course). We'll hit Hollywood Studios tomorrow...it's Star Wars Weekend, after all.
