Unexpected
We spent the weekend with my family and took the kids to the botanical gardens while we were there. Here are a couple of pictures of Maury, Lizzie and cousin Nate.

Not the kind of background you would expect to see at a botanical garden, is it?

What's wrong with this picture?
Maury came to work with me on June 13th for Bring Your Child To Work Day. It was the first year he was old enough to join me...and so you know what that means. Lizzie WAS NOT old enough and was not happy about being left at home.
Steve, being the sucker that he is for his little girl, took her to Libby Lu to give her a treat.

She liked it so much you can see many more photos this August from her Libby Lu birthday party. Sigh.
Oh, Maury had a great time at BYCTWD. Of course, after the planned events were over, we had to leave work because he was so wound up my office could not contain him.

The star of the show
Yesterday we spent some time at the pool...which, if the truth was told, is all the kids really care about doing on vacation. Then, we went to WonderWorks, which is a a kids' hands on science museum. In the same building, they have a dinner show called "Hoot n' Holler". THAT was the best thing we did on the whole trip. Very funny show, good food, and they made Maury a star.
First, Scraps (the real star of the show), had Maury come up on stage and turn his head to his left and hold up his right finger. He then proceeded to act like he was going to put Maury's finger up his nose. Juvenile humor, yes. But, funny.

Then, he actually had Maury balancing one spinning plate on his finger, then two plates on stick and eventually three plates on sticks:

On vacation!
We are on vacation in the mountains of Tennessee. Let me tell you, getting out of town was no small feat. I've been having car issues which just got worse the day before our trip. So we decided to rent a car and got a great deal at Enterprise. I got in the car and about half a mile down the road noticed that the rental had the check engine light on. About thirty more minutes and we were finally on our way to Chattnooga. We went to Lake Winnie, which is just the cutest little amusement park. Here are some pictures from there, including Maury and Steve on the ski lift, Maury getting to play balloon darts, and Lizzie and I on the Matterhorn:

Today we moved on to the Gatlinburg area. We are staying in Sevierville but drove on through to Gatlinburg to do a little sightseeing there. Continuing on with crazy vacation luck, we took the kids to the Ripley's museum. NOT a good idea for two skittish kids. That place creeped me out, too. Anyway, here are a couple of pics of them at lunch and a picture of them at a blacklight golf course we went to about three years ago...in front of the same prop. Look at
this photo from then...they have grown so much!
