Busy busy busy!

Yesterday was like an entire vacation packed into one day. We started by splitting up...Maury and Steve to the beach, Lizzie and I to the pool. We wanted to do a lot and the weather forecast indicated rain (which never happened), so we wanted to get the water stuff in in the morning. Each kid prefers one to the other, so that's why we split up.

At 2:00 we went to Le Grand Cirque Adrenaline at the Palace Theatre. The show was great (but no photography allowed). It was like a circus on stage, complete with one of my favorite things...the Wheel of Death. The Wheel of Death is a ball shaped cage where three motorcyclists all ride around and around and up and down all at once. We've seen similar acts at the Ringling Circus, but they have an even bigger ball and even more cyclists. This was impressive for such a small venue. They also had a great clown/mime who entertained the crowd between acts.

We then found an early dinner at Duffy's Seafood Shack, a place the Wyndham rep had recommended. Very good food in a nice, casual setting. Good choice...I wasn't up for another giant seafood buffet and this fit the bill.

After a brief respite in the room, waiting for the sun to start to go down so it would cool off, we headed out for some miniature golf. We chose Dragon's Lair at Broadway at the Beach (where Lizzie and I had gone shopping). The course had this dragon show that happened every 20 minutes, but wasn't fully running because of high winds last night. However, there was still a blast of fire that would come out of the mountain near the front of the course every few minutes during the normal show time. That about sent Maury to the moon every time it happened. When we got to the eighteenth hole which was located right at the foot of the mountain at show time, I wondered if we would be able to get Maury to finish the game. But, he did...once someone else was up near the hole with him. Poor nervous kid.

Then it was SkyWheel time! The SkyWheel is right on the boardwalk and is like a deluxe 197 foot tall ferris wheel. It has comfortable air conditioned cabins and amazing views of the city and the ocean. Lizzie started to freak out as we got closer and closer to the ride, however, and spent the first time around with her head in Steve's lap and her eyes closed.

The first time around was slow, as they were loading up each of the 42 cabins. We then went around two more times and Lizzie was loving it by the time it was over. When we went through the gift shop at the end, she wanted a shirt. As we were walking back to the van after grabbing ice cream at Mad Myrtle's, she was saying she wanted to go on it again. Go figure.
