Soccer

Sorry. I've taken too long to update here. This fall, Maury is playing soccer at the Y and things are going pretty well.

Practice is still a struggle for him at times (he's way too wound up by 6 p.m.), as can be best evidenced by this:

Yup, that is Maury serving a half game suspension on the bench for sins committed against teammates at that week's practice.

Anyway, he's doing pretty well considering he has had little experience with the sport (this is his third time to play and one time he was about 3) and he is playing on a team that is supposed to be 10 years and up. Maury isn't the only 4th grader. This little boy (who is about the only one his size) is in the same grade:

Some of the other kids on his team are as old as 7th grade. Clearly, this is not "real" soccer. I can't imagine a municipal league being so loosy goosy on this stuff. But, that is precisely why we do sports at the Y and not with the city.
